Message from Dianne Dorn, Immediate Past President, on the last day of her term:

Good evening to you!  On the last day of my Rotary Presidential year 2019-2020, I want to sincerely thank you for your support, kindness, and patience.  The Rotary slogan "Service Above Self" is certainly true among our members.  Even though COVID-19 has turned our in-person meetings to Zoom, we have stayed together.

It is now President Amy's turn to lead our club in new directions.  I know you will give Amy the same devotion that you have given me.

I especially want to thank our departing members for their many years of service:

Terry Tinsley, Sue Jahromi, Leah Hall, Gary Hunt, and Aaron Lewis (transferred to Rotary of Castro Valley).

We welcome our new members:

Marta Alejandro, Mike Jones, Zach Borja, Bill Lam, and Kimberley Alexander.

Our Club has accomplished much with the great gifts of time, talent, and treasure.  I thank all of my Board members for giving so much of their time to ensure the Club runs smoothly:

Jesse Bowdle, Treasurer; Jennifer Reed, Community Outreach Chair; Amy Neuman, President-Elect; Morgan Mack-Rose, Youth Services Chair; Dev Mahadevan, Board member; Aisha Knowles, Board member; Kristina Seher, Foundation Chair; and Kim Holland, Immediate Past President.

I hope the best for you and your family during Rotary year 2020-2021.  We will accomplish new and great things together!

With love and a grateful heart,

Dianne

New Shoes for School Drive

We are supporting Lee Thomas & GrilleeQ in collecting donations and new shoes for the New Shoes for School Drive. This is San Leandro Rotary's 4th year (Lee's been doing it for 6 years) and normally we have it at the Little Brown Church. Due to COVID, we've changed it to a Grab-n-Go experience. In exchange for $20 donation or a brand new pair of shoes, you will be fed by Master Chef Lee Thomas from GrilleeQ! Because of social distancing requirements, after you RSVP we will send you a time slot of when to pick up your food.

You can RSVP two ways:

  1. go to EVENTBRITE and donate $20 now OR

  2. send an email to newshoesforschooldrive@gmail.com (so we have your email)

The RSVP is very helpful because it tells us how much food to prepare and we'll have your email to send you your time slot.

The 6th Annual New Shoes for School Drive collection dates are June 5 to August 6

Join Shoe Drive Founder, former council member Lee Thomas, business and community leaders in collecting new pairs of shoes and gift cards for the 2020-2021 school year. The New shoes or School Drive supports the San Leandro kindergarten through 12th grade youth who are living in under-serve conditions. All donations will considered a tax write-off.

Donation locations:

          * Bara’s Deli, 14799 Washington Ave., San Leandro (During regular business hours)
          * Zocalo Coffeehouse, 645 Bancroft Ave., San Leandro (During regular business hours)
